What’s in a name? For Starving Artz, its EVERYTHING!
With 20+ years as an award winning, National Board Certified public school high school art teacher, I kept thinking to myself “what else?” “Is there more?” I had accomplished many things with my students over the years but really wasn’t satisfied creatively or financially. I realized I was STARVING for something else, but I didn’t know what. Then…I saw a sculpted pumpkin. It blew my mind! The fuse was lit! I quickly sought out the resources that allowed me to learn how to sculpt over the top pumpkins from the best. As I carved more and more, the fuse got bigger and brighter. Inextinguishable! I was always STARVING for more. As I sought opportunities, I quickly became a unique standout in the food art industry having mastered multiple mediums.
My success in creating such a broad portfolio of work resulted from receiving great opportunities from The Food Artist Group, as well my spirit of inquiry-my desire to try new things. “What if” and “Why Not” guide my thinking. My comfort “performing” in front of a crowd or on camera I attribute to my years teaching the toughest of crowds - teenagers.
So thus the name!
I’m STARVING for opportunities to create things that will blow people away, and to create an art experience never seen before.
As a high school art teacher, I've been in the public servant box under the financial control of others for over 20 years … I’m STARVING to control my financial destiny.
As a multi media sculptor - I’m STARVING for the opportunity to work in new art mediums.
